Streaming service Hotstar is based in India and is owned by Star India and The Walt Disney Company. It is available on supported web browsers, mobile phones, digital media players, and smart televisions. Earlier, Hotstar was called Star and was targeted to overseas Indians. However, with the acquisition of 21st Century Fox, Hotstar became part of Disney’s streaming bundle, which has been a mixed blessing for the company. As of the last quarter, Hotstar accounted for 40 percent of the streaming audience at Disney, and a significant portion of the additions were to this service.
Hotstar offers several payment plans based on location. Users can register for free or upgrade to a paid subscription plan to access all content. In order to access Hotstar on your Samsung Smart TV, you must first subscribe to Hotstar. To do so, simply press the “Home” button on the screen and navigate to the “Apps” menu. Once you’ve done that, click on the Hotstar app in the bottom left corner of your screen. Then, go to your router’s administration page and select a VPN server. You’re now ready to enjoy Hotstar.
