Four Pests that Usually Hide in Escondido Basements

Basements are often used for entertainment purposes, storage, or a play area. But some pests may find their way into basements. Because basements can be partly or fully underground, soil-digging insects can get access to them. These insects try to keep themselves hidden and undisturbed. A basement offers the darkness the many pests enjoy, giving them safety from predators.

Basements offer a dark, cool, and damp place for insects to reside. Although a small number of pests isn’t a cause for concern, a simple situation can become a full-blown infestation in no time. This makes it important to invest in regular pest control Escondido which includes home inspections and treatments. The following are insects that may invade your basement:

    Spiders

Basements present spiders with a dark and damp place where they can access food sources. Spiders particularly like a basement filled with clutter and is mostly undisturbed. While house spiders are not venomous, species such as tarantula and black widow are scarier than their bite. The venom of a tarantula is comparable to a bee sting. Although black widows can be fatal, they usually stay out of sight. Other spiders that may hide in basements include American house spiders, Brown recluses, domestic house spiders, and wolf spiders.

    Roaches

These pests can make their way into your house through small cracks in your house. They invade your house for food, water, and shelter. You can surely discover roaches in a basement that has a dining area or a kitchen. Roaches can damage your belongings as well as leave dead skin or droppings along their trail. People who are allergic to roaches can suffer from upper respiratory conditions and asthma.

    Ants

if an ant nest is made close to your home, ants get inside through the cracks and holes in the foundation. Ants are social creatures, so they can be found scurrying across basement floors. They may use your basement to make their way back into the colony where their queen and many other ants are waiting. When it comes to ants, you don’t want to contact a pest control company to help you address the issue.

    Silverfish

These pests often live in dark and damp places like the bathroom, basement, and kitchen. They are usually difficult to find and are covered in shy fish-like scales. However, you might have them in the basement if you notice yellow stains on the fabric or holes in the wallpaper.
